THE HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR PARK DISTRICT PROUDLY SUPPORTS:

Celebrate Your Experience & Wisdom for Older American’s Month
Sponsored by Holland Home Retirement & Assisted Living & Providence Life Services
Why Celebrate?! Older Americans Month is our chance to show appreciation and support for seniors as they continue to enrich and strengthen our communities. President John F. recognized the impact older Americans made, thus in April of 1963, designated May as "Senior Citizens Month.”  Thanks to President Jimmy Carter's 1980 designation, what was once called Senior Citizens Month, is now called: "Older Americans Month" …and has become a tradition.

The Administration on Aging (AoA) issues a theme for Older Americans Month. This year's theme “Never Too Old to Play” encourages older Americans to stay engaged, active and involved in their own lives and in their communities.  As the summer brochures reach your homes please take a look and head on over to the parks.  Look forward to seeing you soon!
Every President since JFK has issued a formal proclamation during or before the month of May asking that the entire nation pay tribute in some way to older persons in their communities. Older Americans Month is celebrated across the country through ceremonies, events, fairs and other such activities.
